Adapted on a narrative by Carey Van Dyke, Shane Van Dyke, and Silberman, the script for Olivia Wilde's 2022 American psychological thriller Don't Worry Darling was written by Katie Silberman. Florence Pugh, Harry Styles, Wilde, Gemma Chan, KiKi Layne, Nick Kroll, and Chris Pine are among the cast members. Warner Bros. Pictures plans to distribute Don't Worry Darling in the US on September 23, 2022, following its global premiere on September 5, 2022, at the 79th Venice International Film Festival.
After a bidding war between 18 studios to secure the next Olivia Wilde-directed project, the movie was announced in August 2019. New Line Cinema ultimately won the auction. The brothers Carey and Shane Van Dyke wrote the original spec script, which was listed on the 2019 Black List. A rework by Katie Silberman resulted in the screenplay for the movie. On October 26, 2020, principal photography commenced in Los Angeles. On November 4, it was put on hold for two weeks after a crew member tested positive for COVID-19, leading to the quarantine of actors Pugh, Styles, and Pine. The last day of filming was February 13, 2021. John Powell wrote the original score for the movie. The Kaufmann House served as the location for the first film to be filmed there, which was the movie's opening sequence. While writing the screenplay for the movie, Wilde was inspired by the architecture of the home and hung a picture of it on her wall. To be there, she told Variety, "was huge. It seemed incredibly fortuitous to shoot the opening scene of this movie, which was a love letter to not only film but also architecture, design, and this time period.
Olivia Wilde, the director, has created an obvious and sporadically fascinating sci-fi thriller that heavily appropriates elements from many superior works yet manages to employ them successfully. A mysterious business that has a hazy messianic goal to enhance humanity built this planned village. Each morning, the handsome men leave for work, leaving the attractive women to take care of the children or enjoy afternoon drinks with the neighboring wives. It goes without saying that there is an unsettling hum beneath all of this glitzy good life, the feeling that nothing so flawlessly safe and uniformly pleasant could be true.
Without much restyling, those inspirations are clearly visible in Wilde's film. Even so, the movie looks good and features some solid acting. Florence Pugh, the great 20-something wonder who made her acting debut in Lady Macbeth a few years ago and has since turned up one outstanding performance after another, plays the lead. Pugh notices Alice's growing worry with acute precision, and she gels well with the other spouses, including actress Wilde herself and comedian Kate Berlant. Then there is the issue of Jack, Alice's husband, who is portrayed by unproven independent singer Harry Styles. Don't Stress Until it's time to buckle down and dig deeper into Alice's situation, Darling floats about, its jumble of recycled pieces in vibrant enough rhythm. At this point, both Wilde's directing and the screenplay by Katie Silberman, Carey Van Dyke, and Shane Van Dyke start to suffer. In a memorable sequence, Chris Pine portrays the community's shady, sauntering overseer with the terrifying allure of a cult leader.

The movie will have its international premiere at the 2022 Venice Film Festival, which runs from August 31 to September 10, before it hits theaters, according to Deadline.
