Harry Potter 6 - Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince
Stream & Download Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. In 2009, Warner Bros. Pictures released the fantasy picture Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, which was directed by David Yates. It is based on the same-titled book by J. K. Rowling, published in 2005. The sixth installment in the Harry Potter film series was produced by David Heyman and David Barron and was written by Steve Kloves. Harry Potter, played by Daniel Radcliffe, is joined by Ron Weasley, played by Rupert Grint, and Hermione Granger, played by Emma Watson.
The plot centers on Harry's sixth year at Hogwarts, during which he receives a mystery textbook, develops a romantic relationship, and tries to recall a memory that may lead to Lord Voldemort's demise. Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (2007) and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1 came before this movie (2010).
The movie's production started on September 24, 2007, and it was released in theaters worldwide on July 15, 2009. It is the most costly movie ever made and the most expensive in the Harry Potter film series, with an estimated $250 million budget. On July 7, 2009, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince had its London premiere. On July 15, it received a global theatrical release. Except for North America, where its IMAX distribution was postponed by two weeks, the movie was simultaneously released in normal theaters and IMAX 3D locations around the world.
The movie was a huge commercial hit and set a new record for the highest single-day global take. The movie earned $394 million in five days, shattering the previous high for a five-day global total. It was once the eighth-highest-grossing movie of all time and the second-highest-grossing movie of 2009 with a total of $934 million (behind Avatar).
Positive reviews for the movie were given, praising the plot, emotional impact, photography, and acting. The movie received nominations for Best Cinematography at the 82nd Academy Awards and Best Special Visual Effects and Best Production Design at the 63rd British Academy Film Awards.
Many directors had indicated interest in helming the picture before David Yates was ultimately selected. The third movie's director, Alfonso CuarĂ³n, said he "would love to have the opportunity" to go back. The Goblet of Fire director Mike Newell was recruited to helm the fifth movie but turned it down. The Half-Blood Prince sets were all created by the production designer who worked on the first five movies. The cave, the Astronomy Tower, and Tom Riddle's orphanage were among the new sets that were added.
The interior of the cave where Harry and Dumbledore both travel in search of Horcruxes is one of the CGI sets that Craig pointed out were used in the movie. The sole location in the entire film series that was filmed outside of the United Kingdom was the outside of the sequence, which was filmed at the Cliffs of Moher in western Ireland. Geometric crystal formations can be seen throughout the cave's interior. The scene required three to four months of preparation, according to Radcliffe. After the filming, some of the Hogwarts sets were pulled down since they wouldn't be used in the sequel.
Warner Bros. requested that director David Yates add additional color to the movie as a result of the cinematographer Bruno Delbonnel's usage of de-focussing and soft wipes in the digital grading. Under the direction of visual effects supervisor Paul Franklin, Double Negative produced the opening sequences of the Death Eaters' assault on Diagon Alley and London. To produce the soaring views of the city, Double Negative surveyed and photographed the area around Trafalgar Square and the River Thames for six months. In order to depict the chaotic world of memory and the past, Double Negative developed sophisticated directed fluid simulations for the Pensieve sequences.
Nicholas Hooper, who also scored the music for Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, wrote the movie's soundtrack. A day before the movie opened in theaters on July 14, 2009, the music was made available on Audio CD. The album had the greatest debut position of any of the six released movie soundtracks, debuting at number twenty-nine on the Billboard 200 chart. The Grammy Award for Best Score Soundtrack Album For Motion Picture, Television, or Other Visual Media was given to it in 2010.
The movie was on the longlists for five other awards, including Best Supporting Actor for Alan Rickman, and was nominated for BAFTA Awards in Production Design and Visual Effects. At the 82nd Academy Awards, Bruno Delbonnel received a nomination for Best Cinematography. The movie made it into the top seven finalists for Best Visual Effects. The only movie in the series to receive an Academy Award nomination for Best Cinematography is Half-Blood Prince.

Dumbledore and Harry discover what Voldemort was looking for when they view it in the Penseive: information about Horcruxes, magical items that contain fragments of a wizard's soul for immortality. Dumbledore believes that Voldemort divided his soul into six Horcruxes, two of which—Tom Riddle's notebook and Marvolo Gaunt's ring—have already been destroyed. They walk to a cave, where Harry helps Dumbledore swallow a potion that contains Slytherin's locket, another Horcrux.
When they arrive back at Hogwarts, Bellatrix, Greyback, and other Death Eaters have already entered through the Vanishing Cabinet in the Room of Requirement that Draco has covertly connected to one in Knockturn Alley. Dumbledore, who is already weak, defends them from the Inferi by forming a ring of fire. Draco shows up while Harry is hiding, disarms the principal, and reveals that Voldemort picked him to kill Dumbledore. Draco hesitates, but Snape shows up and murders Dumbledore. Snape reveals to Harry that he is the Half-Blood Prince as the Death Eaters flee.
Harry informs Ron and Hermione that the locket is a fake and contains a message from "R.A.B." who took the genuine Horcrux with the intention of destroying it, as Hogwarts students and faculty mourn Dumbledore's passing.
